IMAGING DIRECTOR

POSITION SUMMARY

This position leads the direction and function of the radiology department. Ensures safety and quality control standards and maintains liaison with medical staff to ensure department objectives are met. Budget planning and monitoring.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Graduate of an approved school of Radiologic Technology

MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of two years of experience in the same or similar positions.
  • Skills, knowledge, and abilities specific to specialty.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

  • Graduate of an approved school of radiology technology
  • Current Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required
  • Sub-specialty qualifications may be required for Mammography, Ultrasound, and CT, as defined by facility policy and dictated by scheduled work hours and locations.
  • Demonstrate initiative to stay current with technological changes affecting the imaging field.
  • Current CPR certification.

OTHER SKILLS

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products
  • Working knowledge of Google Chrome
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • intermediate understanding of PACS systems

POSITION DUTIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS) 

Imaging Director

Performs duties involving personnel management, scheduling, and supply inventory.

  • This position is a working manager position 
  • Filling in shifts as needed 
  • Evaluating and developing new service lines, as needed 
  • Delegates duties and assignments appropriately to allow time for other job responsibilities.
  • Reviewing and finalizing staff time and attendance records.
  • Monitors use of sick time and overtime on an ongoing basis and takes appropriate action to ensure efficient and effective departmental function.
  • Reviews all requests for time off and gives approval after ascertaining Hospital needs will be met.
  • Seeks input, identifies problems interfering with cost-effectiveness and staff development, and actively works toward solutions.
  • Evaluate employees in the Imaging Department.
  • Maintains employees’ respect and creates a spirit of cooperation and willingness among department personnel.
  • Assists in all sections of the department when the need arises.
  • Supervises and instructs personnel in releasing information, policies, and practices for the department and the hospital.
  • Perform or delegate Radiology Safety Officer roles and responsibilities.

Performs Radiology Technologist functions.

Participates in departmental and intradepartmental meetings.

  • Attends Department Manager meetings.
  • Maintains effective communication with personnel and medical staff through regular conferences and meetings
  • Applies information learned during informative learning sessions and effectively teaches other pertinent information.

Maintains accountability for the operation of the Imaging Department, following standards, statistical compilation, and quality assurance studies.

  • Compiles reports, surveys, and other paperwork as requested and required.
  • Delegates responsibilities to appropriate parties and provides follow-up for delegated tasks.
  • Works to attain maximum efficient performance from the department by conferencing, advising, and making suggestions.
  • Works with Quality Improvement Staff to formulate the Imaging Department Quality Improvement Plan and how the Plan is carried out.
  • Maintains accountability for complying with state and federal requirements and fulfilling recommendations.
  • Generates and provides metrics for the department to the Quality Management Team monthly.

Promotes own professional growth and demonstrates professional conduct in regard to Imaging Department operation.

  • Remains current with industry changes and information.
  • Attends seminars to remain current with industry changes.

Other duties as assigned.

Maintains confidentiality in all health information matters.

Receives, evaluates, and discusses suggestions and constructive criticism in a professional manner.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Attending various administrative functions pertaining to hospital operation and/or in lieu of Chief Nursing Officer for clinical administration representation.
